High Level RCMP investigating highway pedestrian fatality

The High Level RCMP is investigating a pedestrian fatality that happened on Highway 58.

On Wednesday, September 21, at 4:52 a.m., Mounties received a call of an intoxicated individual outside a residence on the Dene Tha’ First Nation who was refusing to leave.

While RCMP was en route, the individual left the residence on foot.

A short time later it was reported the same individual was struck by a pick-up truck while walking on Highway 58.

RCMP and fire crews arrived on the scene and performed first aid till EMS arrived.

The 25-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was a resident of Grimshaw and her name will not be released to the public.

High Level RCMP will continue to investigate the incident and want to extend their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
