FIRE AID AGREEMENT

New City/County Mutual Fire Aid Agreement now in effect

Fire departments from both the city and the County of Grande Prairie are now officially working under a new Fire Mutual Aid Agreement that was signed by both municipalities earlier this year.

The agreement allows each municipality to request resources from the other to assist with emergency operations when needed.

A key feature within the agreement is an auto-aid feature, where the closest station will respond to a call, regardless of which municipality that call falls within.

There are two areas where this feature kicks in.

The Westgate station in the city will respond to high-risk emergencies in the Silver Pointe village, while the Clairmont station will do likewise for similar incidents on rural roads and the Happy Trails Campground and Cabins area of the city
