City and Aquatera is hosting Drop & Swap

The City of Grande Prairie and Aquatera Utilities are hosting a free community event to kick off Waste Reduction Week.

The event is called Drop & Swap. Residents can bring their clean and previously loved clothing to the Ernie Radbourne Pavillion in Muskoseepi Park to donate their clothes and shop for new ones.

According to Waste Reduction Canada, 95% of textiles and clothes that end up in landfills can be repurposed, so any clothes that are left over from the swap will be brought to the Goodwill Grande Prairie facility to be sold in the store.

The Drop & Swap runs from noon to 5 p.m. on October 12 to 14, and residents are asked to bring their own bags to reduce waste.
