107 charges laid on five individuals following break-and-enter investigation in Grande Prairie

An investigation into break-and-enters in the Crystal Ridge area has led RCMP to execute a search warrant for a property in the Crystal Village area.

On September 22, 2022, Mounties were dispatched to a reported break-and-enter in the Crystal Ridge area and conducted an investigation.

With the support of the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit and Police Dog Services; Grande Prairie General Duty officers searched the property and found a number of illegal items, which were subsequently seized:

  • Stolen property from the break and enter
  • Multiple firearms including several airsoft handguns
  • Various ammunition
  • 35 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 17 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 0.5 grams of suspected fentanyl

As a result, five people received altogether 107 charges.

Twenty-seven-year-old Hayley Brosseau of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon (x8)
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of weapon contrary to an order
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a license

Thirty-seven-year-old Mitchell Hall of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon (x3)
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order (x2)

Thirty-six-year-old Stephanie Hido of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon (x8)
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without license
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number

Twenty-nine-year-old Dallas Wosley of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon (x8)
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without license
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime

Twenty-four-year-old Dwayne Olson of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon (x8)
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a license
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Resist arrest (x2)
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order (x2)

Hido, Hall, Brosseau, and Wosley are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on October 12, 2022.

Olson however is awaiting a judicial interim release hearing.

Illegal firearms RCMP seized
