The numbers are in from the RCMP’s Operation Impact 2022 campaign in Alberta over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

On the positive side, Mounties report nobody was killed on Alberta highways over the long weekend, although there were 21 motor vehicle collisions that did result in injuries.

On the not-so-good side was that a total of 2,653 tickets were handed out during that time across the province, including 1,328 for speeding alone.

Of those speeding violations, 18 were for excessive speeding, where the car was traveling over 50 km an hour above the speed limit.

Police also removed 88 impaired drivers from roadways over the weekend, while ticketing 65 distracted drivers and 58 people for not wearing a seat belt.
