Wildfire hazard back up to High for Grande Prairie region

Oct 14, 2022 | 1:47 PM

Recent windy conditions coupled with dry forest conditions have pushed the wildfire hazard back up to high for the Grande Prairie Forest Management area.

The province says high winds can cause extreme fire behaviour and allow fires to grow quickly.

They encourage residents and visitors to the Grande Prairie area to be extremely cautious.

There are currently two active wildfires in the area, both of which are listed as under control.

Since March 1st of this year, 75 wildfires have burned a total of 99 hectares of land in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
