Traffic light work to start Monday at four Grande Prairie intersections

Oct 16, 2022 | 7:00 AM

Beginning Monday, October 17th, repair and/or replacement of traffic lights will get underway at four west-end intersections in Grande Prairie.

The city in a news release says full traffic signal rehabilitation, which includes installing new lights, bases, poles, and other infrastructure, will take place at the intersection of 97th avenue and 108th street, as well as 100th avenue and 108th street.

Partial rehabs are slated for the 100th avenue and 112th street intersection, as well as 100th avenue and 116th street.

Minor lane closures are slated to take place while the work is done, and the city adds that there will also be planned short periods during off-peak hours when the lights will go dark to allow for changeovers from old to new lights to occur.

During those times, the intersections will become four-way stops.

Work should wrap up by November 15th.
