County launches new program to help small businesses

Oct 20, 2022 | 1:57 PM

To coincide with small business week, the County of Grande Prairie has launched a new Business Assistance Program, which will allow small and medium-sized businesses to access professional human resources services.

The new program provides grants for businesses to contract certified human resources professionals to help in a number of areas.

Grants of up to $1,000 are available for help in filling vacant positions or implementing strategies to increase employee retention, while a maximum of $500 is available to create policies for remote work situations.

The grants are for businesses with less than 100 employees, that currently do not have human resources staff.

Application forms are available on the County’s Economic Development website and will be considered and allocated by council on a first-come, first-serve basis until all funding has been used.
