Rural Renewal Stream program coming to three communities in the Peace

Oct 24, 2022 | 2:28 PM

Three Peace Region municipalities will be implementing a new Rural Renewal Stream program to shrink the labour gap.

This program is jointly connected with the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program and was made to attract newcomers to Canada.

Through this process, newcomers who accept a full-time position will be nominated for permanent residency in Canada.

In a news release, Sexsmith Mayor Kate Potter said “Attracting newcomers as a region not only fills the existing labor gap but also strengthens our regional partnerships and successes.”

In that same release, Mayor of Wembley, Kelly Peterson said “Our Town is looking forward to seeing newcomers become a part of our community where they can live and work. The goal is to grow our community and encourage economic growth for the town as well. This program is in line with one of our strategic priorities, which is economic and business growth.”

Businesses that are interested in being involved with this program must have full-time positions available with a duration of at least one year and offer wages and benefits that meet or exceed industry standards.
