Danielle Smith’s presence at grand opening event raising concerns from the opposition

Questions are being raised about Premier Danielle Smith’s presence at an event in the southern Alberta constituency where she’s running for a seat in the legislature.

Smith, who became premier and leader of the United Conservative Party earlier this month, is running in a byelection in Brooks-Medicine Hat.

She attended a grand opening event for the new Co-op Wellness Commons at Medicine Hat College yesterday.

Smith says she was only there in her role as premier, but the Opposition N-D-P says it is a violation of the Election Act.
