Piranhas celebrate another successful year

After three year’s The Grande Prairie Piranha’s held its award banquet on Saturday, having over two hundred people celebrate twenty-seven squad awards and four club awards.

James Robinson President of the Piranhas said in a news release, “This evening is evidence of the depth of excellence that exists within the Grande Prairie Piranhas Swim Club. The team as a whole, our individual athletes, and our coaches are focused on the pursuit of excellence, and I am proud of the work our coaches and swimmers do to focus on continuous improvement and success.”

Each squad recognized winners in two categories, Most Improved, and Outstanding Swimmer, while the whole club recognized swimmers in the areas of Triumph, Dedication, Sportsmanship, and Leadership.

” We are very proud of our swimmers and our organization. This night is about recognizing individual swimmers and about recognizing the shared success of our amazing Club. We compete really well at all levels and look forward to evening more success in the upcoming season. ” said Robinson in the same news release.

This awards banquet was the cherry on top of a historic year for the club having been a Top Three Club in the Provincial Spring Championship and a Top Ten finish at the Junior National Championships.

The club said in that same news release, this ceremony set the stage for the current season, which is well underway.
