RCMP have some tips to keep Albertans safe on highways this winter

As temperatures begin to drop, Alberta RCMP wants to remind residents to be prepared for winter conditions when driving on Alberta highways.

Mounties have a few recommendations about safe traveling to keep everybody on the road this winter.

• Filling your windshield washer fluid reservoir with winter-rated fluid.
• Checking your vehicle’s tire conditions, including spare tires.
• No matter the conditions, having clean head and tail lights.

In addition, always plan your routes and let friends and family know your expected time of arrival.

RCMP also suggests having a winter travel kit; consisting of water, blankets, a cell phone charger, a shovel, flashlights, and booster cables.
