Unemployment rate holds steady in Grande Prairie/Peace region
After seeing increases in two of the previous three months, the unemployment rate for the economic region that includes Grande Prairie and the Peace region held steady in October at 5.7 per cent.
The picture was even rosier for Alberta as a whole, as the unemployment rate improved by 3-10ths of a percentage point in October to 5.2 per cent, as seven thousand more Albertans found work last month.
The national unemployment rate held steady at 5.2 per cent, as the creation of 108-thousand new jobs across the country in October was offset by more people looking for work.
Employment rose across a broad range of sectors, led by manufacturing, construction and accommodation, and food services.
