Indigenous Veterans Day observed at Veterans Memorial Garden

The Veteran’s Memorial Garden and Interpretive Centre held a ceremony today in Grande Prairie to honor Indigenous Veteran’s Day.

Multiple local figureheads spoke at the event, such as MP Chris Warkentin, MLA Tracy Allard, and deputy mayor Wendy Bosch.

The centre can be visited anytime to reflect and learn more about veterans from across the Peace region.

12,000 Indigenous soldiers served in the Korean, first, and second World Wars; with some giving the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

This years ceremony marks the 28th anniversary of Indigenous Veterans Day in Canada, which first started in Winnipeg and now growing across Canada.
