Come Together Christmas Campaign launches in Grande Prairie

Nov 14, 2022 | 10:35 AM

Grande Prairie and Peace region residents are being asked to “Come Together” this holiday season to support several non-profit agencies make Christmas a little brighter for those less fortunate.

The city’s two Pattison Media-owned radio stations are combining forces this year for their annual Christmas support campaign.

Rewind Radio morning host and program director Tyler Wold says the “Come Together” campaign kicks off Monday, November 14 and continues until December 4.

“For years we have run stuff-a-bus with huge success, and our sister station Big Country 93.1 has run big toy box with huge success. But over the past couple of years since we have come together under one company, we sort of felt like we were competing against one another to get donations for the same thing. Lyle West and I sat down and started discussing how we can fix that and maybe even help each other out. So we decided why don’t we just all come together and do one great big campaign.”

According to Wold, the types of donations they are looking for remains the same as in previous years.

“We are still collecting non-perishable food items and new, unopened toiletries for the Salvation Army. And then we are also still going to be asking for toys just like Big Toy Box used to do. It is just that now we are doing it all at once in one great big campaign so that we can reach out to as many local non-profits as we possibly can.”

Donations are being accepted at several Grande Prairie businesses, while cash and gift card donations can be dropped off at the Pattison media office on 101 avenue.

Wold adds support from the business community to our “Come Together” promotion has been incredible.

“The business community in Grande Prairie and across the Peace Country has been phenomenal. There is a whole host of drop-off locations all over Grande Prairie that people can stop by and drop-off their donations at.”

A full list of drop off points can be found on the events page of both www.bigcountry931.ca or www.989rewindradio.com

Donations will be distributed, with the help of Rotary Clubs in Grande Prairie, to several local non-profit organizations.
