GROWING THE NORTH

Growing the North to return to an in-person gathering in 2023

Nov 16, 2022 | 2:46 PM

One of the top networking gatherings in the Peace region is returning to an in-person setting for 2023.

Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce communications and public relations director Tom Pura says the Growing the North conference, set for February 21st to 23rd at the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park, will be the first one held in person since the start of the pandemic.

“Our last in-person Growing the North was in February of 2020. And we all know that just a few weeks later, all heck kind of broke loose. So the last two years, we really appreciate everyone’s support in going online and still having a couple of really good conferences.”

Pura adds this year they will be offering breakout sessions as part of the conference.

“We have done breakout sessions the last couple of years online, but now we are going to do them in person. It is something we have never done and something that we have been asked about in the past. So it is a chance to provide a little more information on a bigger variety of topics.”

There will also be networking mixers for conference attendees held on the evenings of both February 20th and 21st.

Pura says they have three of their four keynote presenters already secured.

“Janet Bannister, who was the founder of Kijiji in Canada, and is still very active in the Canadian tech ecosystem. We also have Ted Graham lined up, who is the bestselling author of “The Uber of Everything: How the Freed Market Economy is Disrupting and Delighting”. He is the head of open innovation and venture principal at General Motors. And we have Hamza Khan, who is a future of work expert and the author of “Leadership Reinvented”.”

Early bird registrations are now being accepted, and anyone who registers for the conference between now and December 31st will save 15 per cent on their registration cost.
