Nov 16, 2022 | 2:08 PM

Six community organizations will be benefiting from grants given out by International Paper’s Grande Prairie mill.

Tom Macher, International Paper’s Mill Manager says in a news release, “Our company cannot succeed if our communities do not succeed, and these grants are an investment in our family, friends, and neighbors.”

Grants will be awarded to these local community organizations:

  1. STARS Air Ambulance
  2. The Grande Prairie Public Library
  3. Bezanson Agriculture Society
  4. Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter
  5. River of Death & Discovery Dinosaur Museum
  6. United Way Northwest Society

These organizations split $90,000 from these grants, which the company says are carefully reviewed by a committee of local team members and awarded annually.

Macher said in the same release, “We started our International Paper Giving Fund, in Grande Prairie, in 2018 and are now into our fifth year of providing our community with grant funding, totaling more than $530,000. We are thrilled to support another 6 local organizations in their efforts to make a difference.”

The company adds the grant funding programs related to their signature causes; education, hunger, health and wellness, disaster relief, and initiatives that improve our planet overall.
