Wembley man wanted in B.C. arrested in Grande Prairie in stolen truck, woman charged

Nov 23, 2022 | 12:58 PM

On November 5, 2022, Mounties with the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit located a silver Dodge flat-deck truck that was suspected of being involved in multiple criminal occurrences in British Columbia.

The instances occurred in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, including where a police vehicle was rammed and fled from authorities.

RCMP attempted to stop the truck but fled from police.

The occupants of the truck eventually abandoned it and tried to flee on foot, where a male and female were subsequently arrested.

Mounties have determined the flat-deck truck was stolen from Wembley this past August.

46-year-old Darin Loeppky of Wembley and 41-year-old Chantal McDonald of Beaverlodge were charged with the possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

McDonald was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on December 5, 2022.

Loeppky has been further charged with:

  • Flight from police
  • Failing to comply with a release order X 2
  • Unlawful possession of a Government identity document

At the time of his arrest, Loeppky was wanted on several outstanding warrants in British Columbia.

Following a Judicial interim release hearing, Loeppky was released from custody for his Alberta matters and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on November 28, 2022. Loeppky was held in custody for his B.C. matters and was transported back to B.C. to be brought before the courts in that province.

The Grande Prairie RCMP says the timely sharing of information between RCMP jurisdictions was instrumental in locating the individuals and recovering the stolen truck so it could be returned to its lawful owner.
