EnerCorp supporting next generation of trades students

Dec 6, 2022 | 4:10 PM

EnerCorp is supporting the welders of tomorrow by donating a $1,500 Rod-Oven to Charles Spencer High School’s fabrication lab.

Haille O’Toole, a student at Charles Spencer, was creating her project when she realized the weld she was trying to produce, would not work with the machine they currently had.

Her teacher, Joe LaValley expanded in a news release.

“At that time, she was attempting to use a 7018 rod, and we noticed that the flux was crumbling and the weld was not flowing as it should. It was a good teaching moment. I told her that we do not have a rod oven and that for this rod to perform properly, its exposure to moisture needs to be controlled.”

O’Toole decided something should be done and reached out to her dad, Ryan, who is the General Manager of the production fabrication equipment division at EnerCorp.

Ryan O’Toole said in the same news release that “when Hallie explained the situation, I immediately wanted to help. I grew up here, and our company prides itself on supporting the next generation of welders. It is part of our company culture.”

The machine is already in use at the school helping prepare welding, fabrication, and technology studies students for post-secondary and the workforce.
