Santa Claus Parade and festivities in Clairmont on Sunday

Santa is coming to Clairmont this weekend thanks to the Clairmont Ag Society.

A Santa Claus Parade will be taking place in the hamlet, weather depending, starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 11.

The route kicks off at the community hall and ends near Lakeview Seniors Housing.

“We are doing a community supper, which we’ve been doing for… it fell by the way side a couple years ago and we’ve started it up again.”

Trudel says they are doing a turkey dinner, which has already been completely filled through pre-registration.

She says there will be floats from local businesses in the parade and the well-known community street Santa; Mike Marchi for his last year as Saint Nick.

“Anybody that’s been around Grande Prairie knows who he is, so we thought he’d been retired since Covid. I asked him if he would be interested in being our Santa Claus in out parade and hey said yep,” Trudel says.

She notes the event hopes to bring the community together and to get involved.
