Fire at Weyerhaeuser Sawmill Monday morning

Just after 3 a.m., Monday morning (December 12) crews from the Clairmont, Bezanson, and Dunes County Regional Fire Service stations, along with Grovedale, Sexsmith, and Wembley fire departments responded to a structure fire at the Weyerhaeuser Sawmill.

Crews found the fire upon arrival, as it was coming from a piece of equipment in the saw line and was spreading to the roof.

Luckily, the mill’s sprinkler system held the fire until fire crews arrived and extinguished the blaze, keeping damage contained to the area around the machines.

No injuries were reported and the County Fire Marshall is currently investigating the incident.
