A new Community Safety and Wellness grant will be available to start accepting applications beginning early in 2023.

Council approved adding an additional $25,000 to the Community Assistance grant program as a specific funding stream for this grant. More details on this grant can be found online at www.countygp.ab.ca/grants.

County council also agreed to partner once again in 2023 with the Rural Development Network to complete a Rural Homelessness Estimation.

It will be the third time that the estimation project will be done, in an effort to examine homelessness and housing insecurity in rural are throughout the region, and to work on identifying support for residents.

Council also approved its support of an application by the City of Grande Prairie to the Alberta Community Partnership grant program.

Funds would be used for professional services to develop a data collection and analysis plan to support Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework discussions.

Finally, Council also announced that it will continue its advocacy efforts in 2023 for the Highway 40X connector.

The County plans to request a meeting with the province to advance and confirm funding for the project in an effort to continue to move it forward.
