Highlights from city council’s last meeting of 2022
Grande Prairie city council met Monday for the final time in 2022.
Among the highlights was; council giving three readings to a by-law that designates the former Grande Prairie courthouse as a municipal historic resource. Located at the corner of 101 Avenue and 99 Street, the building is now home to the Centre for Creative Arts. Councillor Dylan Bressey said making this designation may also open up provincial funding that can help the city take care of the building in the future.
Council also approved public member appointments to several city committees and commissions. The appointments all begin on January 1 and last for either two or three years.
There were also two special recognitions during the meeting. Council congratulated Robert Carroll on his retirement from the city. Carroll was a long-time city employee; including serving sixteen years as Transportation Services Manager.
