Police say one person died after a crash near Smith

Slave Lake RCMP says one person died in a single-vehicle crash Friday near Smith.

Police say they were called out at around 7:40 pm Friday night to a collision on Range Road 11A.

They add the vehicle was southbound when it went off the road, through a guard rail, and down an embankment onto the river just before the Smith bridge.

A 54-year-old man from Slave Lake died in the crash.

His name was not released. The investigation continues.
