Minster of Finance, Preisdent of the Treasury Board, and Grande Prairie – Wapiti MLA Travis Toews and Minister of Jobs, Economy and Northern Development, and Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche MLA Brian Jean have commented on the recent estimates released by Statistics Canada on Alberta’s third-quarter population growth.

Toews says our economy is becoming the “economic engine of Canada.”

“According to population estimates released by Statistics Canada, we just recorded our highest single-quarter population growth rate in more than 40 years. Between the beginning of July and the end of September, Alberta added 58,203 residents,” Toews says in a release from the province.

He notes that compared to the rest of the country, Alberta has a lower cost of living, affordable housing market, higher earnings, and lower taxes.

Jean says the United Conservative’s “strong business-friendly policies make us a top choice to grow a business, raise a family and build a career.”

“This past quarter, Alberta saw massive gains in interprovincial migration. This means almost 20,000 more Canadians chose to make Alberta their home,” Jean says, adding this is thanks to the provincial government’s policies to making a growing economy with opportunities for growth.

Jean says people are coming to Alberta to get educated, find good, high paying jobs, and buy homes at affordable prices.

He finished his statement with a welcome to more people; “Alberta is calling. Our doors are open to anyone who wants to keep more of what they earn while taking part in a prosperous Alberta.”
