Slave Lake RCMP charge 83-year-old following drunk driving death

A woman is dead after what Slave Lake RCMP are calling a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The incident occurred around 12:23 am on Tuesday in the community of Smith, located about 71 km southeast of Slave Lake.

Mounties, EMS and fire personnel arrived on scene to find an unresponsive female, who was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

Details on the deceased, including name, age, and hometown were not released.

83-year-old Elman Morgan of Smith was arrested and faces three charges, including impaired driving causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and operating a motor vehicle with blood alcohol exceeding the legal limit.
