Grande North Winter Festival set to return January 13-15

The Grande North Winter Festival is returning to Grande Prairie next week, and preparations are underway.

The Festival runs from January 13 to the 15 and takes place at three different locations around Grande Prairie.

The city has added four new events for this year’s festivities:

  • Apres Ski in the Bowes Centre with a fireplace and photo backdrops
  • Snow Art, sponsored by Fletcher Mudryk
  • Free admission to the Ice Gardens for children under twelve with a paying adult
  • SkiiTour DJ duo at the Ice Gardens on Friday evening

The weekend does have some activities that will require tickets, such as:

  • Ice Gardens Day Pass – Live Ice Carving Competition presented by Grande Prairie Regional Tourism, Ice Bar Beverages, Food, Music, and Maple Taffy provided by ACFA
  • Exclusive Ice Gardens Party – Includes daytime activities plus live DJs and music by Steven Lee Olson with guest Don Amero on Friday and 54-40 with guests Don Amero, The Northbloods, and McKindred on Saturday
  • Grande Prairie Storm hockey games

Free events will still be held at Muskoseepi Park and the Montrose Cultural Centre, and will include:

Muskoseepi Park:

  • Skating on the pond
  • Horse and wagon rides
  • Snowshoeing
  • Crokicurl rink
  • Maple Taffy provided by ACFA
  • Music

Montrose Cultural Centre:

  • Aquatera ice slide
  • Greenpath Energy skating oval
  • Greenpath Energy crokicurl rink
  • Snow Maze – sponsored by The Office
  • Snow Art – sponsored by Fletcher Mudryk
  • Firepits
  • Music

The city says this event was designed to promote and create unique winter-centered experiences for residents to embrace and enjoy, throughout the colder months.
