Grande Prairie RCMP investigating threatening phone calls, but say there is no risk to the public

Jan 9, 2023 | 1:25 PM

Grande Prairie RCMP says they are investigating more than a half-dozen potential phone threats.

Mounties say they were notified just after 9 a.m. Monday (January, 9) by a resident who said they got a call about what police describe as “a potentially threatening situation.”

Just over an hour later, police got another report of a similar call to a school. Three other schools, a school district office, and a hotel located outside of Grande Prairie all received similar calls.

Mounties say the calls came from outside of Canada and there is no risk to anyone at this time.

The investigation continues.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-930-5700 or their local police.
