Alberta’s film and television industry says the widely anticipated H-B-O adaptation of “The Last of Us” shows the province can handle any size of production.

The series, which premieres Sunday, was filmed in Alberta from July 2021 to June 2022. Some scenes were shot in Grande Prairie. At the QE II Hospital.

The province’s film commission says the production is the largest to date in its history and one of the biggest in Canada.

The series takes place 20 years after a civilization-changing event where a hardened survivor is hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl out of a city turned into a quarantine zone.
