Peace Regional RCMP says two people have been charged after an assault in Nampa.

Police say it happened just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 12. They add two suspects had assaulted a third person with a weapon, an attack that resulted in serious but non-life-threatening injuries for the victim.

Mounties say the driver of the suspect vehicle took off when police tried to stop it. It was located a short time later and the two were arrested.

Twenty-nine-year-old Riley Salmond of Fairview and a youth who cannot be named are facing charges that include:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats (x4)
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Failing to stop while being pursued by a peace officer

The youth also has two charges of failure to comply with a release order.

Both have been released. Salmond will be in court on February 13, and the youth at a later date.
