Provincial women’s curling championship starts Wednesday

The Alberta women’s provincial curling championship starts today (Wednesday, January 18) in Wetaskiwin.

The Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts will run through Sunday.

Two teams with players originally from the Peace are taking part.

Team Skrlik has Nampa-raised sisters Kayla and Ashton Skrlik at skip and lead respectively.

Former Team Skrlik third Selena Sturmay now skips her own rink and has former Grande Prairie curler Heather Nedohin playing third.

The first draw is at 10 am. Skrlik plays Gracelyn Richards from Edmonton. Sturmay faces Team Stiksma from Sherwood Park.
