Whitefish Lake First Nation man charged with serious violent offences

On January 13, 2023, the High Prairie RCMP attended a residence on the Whitefish Lake First Nation following a report from a victim that was allegedly shot at.

The gun was jammed according to the victim, who was assaulted with the firearm by the suspect.

On January 20, officers of the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit were in Cadotte Lake along with Peace River and High Prairie RCMP in locating 35-year-old Conway Blake Laboucan of Whitefish Lake First Nation.

After a two-day investigation officers were successful in arresting Laboucan.

After investigation, Laboucan has been charged with six offenses:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Weapons offenses (x3)
  • Mischief
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to an order

Laboucan was taken before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded in custody. His next court date is set for February 6, 2023, in Peace River Provincial Court.
