HFCRD giving out provincial funding to Ukranian refugee students
The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has begun the process of supporting eleven Ukrainian students in their district with funding provided by the Provincial government.
The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has begun dispersing the provincial funding to the 11 students who are enrolled at Good Shepard School, Glenmary School, Rosary School, and St. Stephen’s.
Superintendent of the division, Betty Turpin said in a release, “These students and their families have been through times that many could never imagine, therefore, we want to do everything we can to make these students transition to a new community and new school as seamless as possible.”
With a total of $5,500 per student, these funds will go towards language, social and educational supports, with the district already extending Educational Assistant hours along with extending a part-time teacher’s full-time equivalency.
