Peace region welcomes two new doctors

Recruitment efforts to bring new doctors to the Peace region continue to net results with the addition of a new pediatrician in Grande Prairie.two new physicians to the area.

Dr. Priscilla Afari becomes the seventh pediatrician in Grande Prairie, and the fifth that will be based out of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

She comes to the Swan city from Ghana, where she received her medical training and also did her residency.
Dr. Afari and her family moved to Grande Prairie in December and are already settling into their new community.

Meanwhile, Dr. Saurabh Parmar originally hails from Punjab and completed his residency at the University of Alberta Rural Family Medicine Program in Grande Prairie.

He is a family medicine and emergency physician and joins a team of six other doctors practicing out of both the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital and Hythe Medical Clinic.

In a release, Alberta Health Services says Dr. Parmar and his wife enjoy outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, and are looking forward to doing more exploring in the region.
