Suspicious vehicle investigation in southern Alberta leads to Bezanson man’s arrest

On the morning of February 3, Strathmore RCMP General Duty and Crime Reduction Units responded to a suspicious vehicle in a field just outside of Strathmore that was stuck in the snow.

Upon arrival, police realized the two men occupying the vehicle were wanted on Canada Wide Parole Warrants.

A search of a vehicle took place and Mounties turned up numerous illegal items:

  • A replica handgun
  • Government ID that did not belong to either of the individuals
  • 190 grams of meth; with a street value of potentially $19,000
  • $22,275 cash
  • Multiple edged and impact weapons

Both men were taken to the Strathmore detachment and were remanded into custody to await a court date for their new charges.

31-year-old Christopher Lindgren of Bezanson and a 30-year-old Nathan Piche of Cold Lake both face 20 charges, including:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Items Used for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose X 14
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Unlawful Possession of Government Documents X 2

Piche also has additional charges that include:

  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order
  • Illegal Possession of Government Documents
  • Five other offenses under the Traffic Safety Act relating to no insurance, registration infractions, unlawful use of license plates, and unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle

RCMP says both men were parolees that fled from a community residential facility, which resulted in them both being wanted on Canada Wide Warrants.
