Edmonton man facing trafficking charge after Grande Prairie traffic stop

A traffic stop by Grande Prairie RCMP has led to a drug trafficking charge against an Edmonton man.

Police say that on February 10 around 11 pm, a vehicle was stopped at Resources Road and 99 Avenue for a moving violation.

After further investigation, Mounties started looking into drugs as well. When they tried to arrest the driver, he ran away but was caught after a short foot chase.

Police seized 59 individually packaged bags of suspected cocaine, with a total weight of 35 grams, plus over $2400 cash.

The charges against 19-year-old Everisto Yousif also include resisting arrest and possession of the proceeds of crime.
