Growing the North conference back to in-person event

Feb 21, 2023 | 6:00 AM

More than 400 attendees and 37 speakers are going to be part of this year’s Growing the North Conference.

The 14th edition will go Wednesday and Thursday at Evergreen Park.

Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce CEO and conference organizing committee chair Tanya Oliver says they are glad to be back in person this year.

“Of course, 14 years ago, we wouldn’t have thought that was a thing we’re going to be celebrating but after the last two years, we’re certainly grateful to be back in person. The last in-person conference was in 2020 so that’s certainly something we’re grateful for.”

Oliver says she always enjoys the variety of speakers that will be at the conference.

“Janet Bannister, the founder of Kijiji.ca, I’m excited to hear from her and I’m really excited to hear from Ashley Callingbull-Rabbit. She’s our opening keynote on the second day. She has diverse experience and story to share.”

Oliver says she is hoping those attending will learn about the opportunities there are in the north.

“People are quick to talk about challenges which of course are important, but there are so many opportunities for our whole north and hopefully, people are walking away with some more insight on that.”

“(I’m) also hoping they are able to make some new contacts and expand their networks.”

Oliver says anyone who might want to register last minute and attend can check the Growing the North website.
