Team Skrlik 2-2 at Scotties Tournament of Hearts over weekend

UPDATE: Alberta is now 3-2 at the Scotties.

Kayla Skrlik’s team downed Prince Edward Island 10-7 Tuesday afternoon.

Alberta fell behind 3-0 early, but then counted 3 in the third end and stole two in both the fifth and sixth ends.

Alberta, BC and Nova Scotia are tied at 3-2 and in third place in their pool.

Nova Scotia plays Nunavut Tuesday night.

Alberta plays Nova Scotia in its next game Wednesday afternoon. BC’s next game is also Wednesday afternoon against the Kaitlyn Lawes wild card team.

Team Canada is 6-0 after beating Saskatchewan 10-3 this afternoon. Manitoba is 5-1 after a 10-5 win over Yukon.

They lead their respective pools.

Casey Scheidegger’s 1-3 wild card team plays Newfoundland and Labrador Tuesday night. Grande Prairie’s Kristie Moore is the alternate with the Scheidegger rink.

Team Skrlik, representing Alberta, is faring well in its first appearance at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

They played four games over the first weekend of play in Kamloops, B.C.

In their first game on Friday, they played Wild Card #1 Team Lawes and lost 8-5.

They played Saskatchewan’s Team Silvernagle in their second match and lost 11-9.

The team has Sunday before two games on Family Day Monday.

The morning draw against Nunavut’s Team MacPhail got them off to a good start with a score of 9-4 and in the evening, knocked it out of the house against Quebec’s Team St. Georges winning 12-4.

Team Skrlik plays their fifth game at 2:30 p.m. today against Prince Edward Island’s Team Birt.

Sisters Kayla Skrlik (Skip) and Ashton Skrlik (Lead), were born and raised in Nampa; 20 km south of Peace River.
