Jail time for driver who ran a red light

Alberta Justice says a Grande Prairie man charged after a car went through a red light has been handed a 300-day jail sentence.

Dylan Sutton pleaded guilty to charges of flight from a police officer, fraud over $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.

He was given consecutive 150-day sentences on the first two charges and a concurrent 15-day sentence on the third.

RCMP said at the time they were doing patrols downtown on June 10, 2022, around 10:00 p.m. when they saw a car run a red light.

Police identified the driver and later made an arrest.

Sutton had originally faced seven charges.

Community sentence after break-in suspect found in stolen truck

Alberta Justice says a Hines Creek woman charged after a cabin break-in has been given a 120-day Conditional Sentence Order.

Kailyn Diane Verquin pleaded guilty to a charge of making, possessing, transferring, selling, or trying to sell an identity document in Fairview court.

She had been facing ten other charges including; possession of property obtained by crime, break and enter, and drug possession.

Those sentences are served in the community.

McLennan RCMP said at the time on February 25, 2022, they received a report of a break-in at a cabin in Watino.

On March 11, 2022, a suspect was located in Hines Creek in a stolen truck and arrested. Mounties said they recovered property stolen from the break-in inside that truck.

A second person, Anthony Aaron Roshuk, was also charged with break and enter after being arrested on March 12, 2022, in a Hines Creek home.
