Mar 12, 2023 | 6:00 AM

The City’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza is set to return on April 8 at the Grande Prairie Museum’s Heritage Village.

However, to attend this event you will need to reserve a spot. That will open on Monday, March 13, at 8:30 a.m.

On April 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. kids aged two to ten will be placed into 30-minute time slots where they can take part in a number of activities:

  • Easter egg hunt
  • Colouring contest
  • Cookie decorating
  • Easter crafts
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Carrot toss
  • Easter bunny photo-booth

To make the event more inclusive and accessible, activities may be adapted to reduce sensory strain, as well as the addition of quiet sensory space with tactile items that kids can use.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in a release, “This accessible community event enhances the quality of life for citizens and contributes to an inclusive and caring community through its two inclusive time slots, which are designed for participants who benefit from a quieter and calmer environment.”

This event is open to all kids aged from two to ten, and is $5 per child, with adults being welcomed for free.

Even if you don’t plan on attending the Eggstravaganza, a colouring contest begins on Monday, March 13, and runs till April 8. Kids aged from two to ten are encouraged to submit their artwork either by email, to events@cityofgp.com or through the Grande Prairie Museum.

A randomly selected winner from each of the three age categories will be selected on April 12, with all three receiving a prize.
