GPCSD reaches new deal with teachers

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools has reached a Memorandum of Agreement on a new contract with the Teacher Welfare Committee, which represents their teachers.

Financial details were not released, but a number of provisions were included in the new deal.

They include additions to a professional development fund, the ability for staff to work from home when road conditions are not good, as well as entitlements to paid sick leave when substitute teachers are injured at work.

Also included in the new deal was flexible scheduling for school administrators during August in the lead-up to the opening of school, and a defined date for teachers on probationary contracts to receive notice of a contract extension.
