Deadline approaching for Large Scale Tourism Event funding

The city is reminding non-profit groups that are organizing large scale events of an important deadline that is coming up.

March 31st is the deadline to apply for the second intake of Large Scale Tourism Events funding.

Festivals and sporting events that have a tourism draw of 100 km or more, and have at least 35 per cent of their attendance come from visitors outside of the community are encouraged to apply through the city’s website.

These types of events are usually held over multiple days, attract an attendance of more than 2000 people per day, and provide a unique audience or participant experience, while also creating a significant economic or tourism boost to the Grande Prairie region.

The event must be held within the city, or at County facilities such as Evergreen Park or Crosslink County Sportsplex, and must be held under any weather conditions in order to be eligible for funding.
