Canucks win NPHL championship

The Dawson Creek Canucks are North Peace Hockey League champions.

The Canucks edged the Falher Pirates 4-3 in overtime Saturday night to win the Campbell Cup in seven games.

Liam Craig scored the winning goal at the 14:05 mark of the first overtime period.

Game 6 in the NWJHL final

The County Wheat Kings need a win on home ice Monday night to push the Northwest Junior Hockey League final to a seventh game.

The Wheat Kings host Fort St. John starting at 8 PM at the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

The Huskies lead the series 3-2 after an 8-2 win Saturday in Fort St. John.

Red Deer wins ACAC women’s crown

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens are the champions of ACAC women’s hockey.

They beat the NAIT Ooks 2-1 in overtime Friday to complete a sweep of the best-of-five.

Jailyn Bablitz of Valleyview and Arilyn Toews of Wembley play for Red Deer, Char Sallis of Grande Prairie is with NAIT.
