Proceeds from WPCA Tarp Auction Gala this Saturday to benefit new PARDS program

The WPCA Tarp Auction Gala will be held at Evergreen Park on April 1 to support the chuckwagon drivers of the Grande Prairie Stompede.

This is the second year the gala has been held.

The night will consist of supper, the tarp auction, musical entertainment, midnight lunch, and a silent auction with proceeds going to PARDS new UNBRIDLED program.

Stompede Association President Trevor Denis says the program is a partnership created for kids who have suffered trauma.

“They get to work with horses and a registered therapist, so we are very proud of that and looking forward to the progress in that charity.”

“The kids don’t get to ride with the horse, they get to work with the horse – which is why we called it UNBRIDLED. When a human being works with a horse, it’s good for the outside of the horse and the inside of the human.”

Forty-four wagon tarps are to be auctioned off. The night will also kick off the Stompede lottery, where the top prize is a skid-steer.

“It’s gonna be a great night. We do have quite a few tickets sold, I think there may be a few left but it’s selling out very quickly.”

Stompede will be back at Evergreen Park from May 31 to June 4
