One in custody following armed carjacking near Valleyview

Valleyview RCMP say one suspect is in custody in relation to an armed carjacking earlier this week.

Mounties say just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, they received reports of an incident on the Arc Resources Road west of Valleyview.

Their investigation found that the victim had attempted to assist the occupants of a vehicle that appeared to be stuck in the snow.

Two people, brandishing a firearm, then approached the victim and stole his vehicle.

The vehicle was located a short time later abandoned on the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.

RCMP says one suspect, identified as Dorian Anakian Harvey, has been taken into custody.

No word yet on what charges he will be facing.

Police continue to search for the second suspect in the case.
