Local businessman named UCP candidate for GP-Wapiti
The United Conservative Party has announced its candidate for the Grande Prairie-Wapiti riding for next month’s provincial election.
The party says Ron Wiebe brings a wealth of governance experience, having served as a municipal councillor with the M-D of Mackenzie, the President of the Federal Conservative Party Association in Grande Prairie-Mackenzie, and on the board of both Northwestern Polytechnic and the Northwest Corridor Development Corp.
He has also been involved in several successful start-up businesses, spending a large portion of his career in the transportation industry.
Wiebe replaces current finance minister Travis Toews as the UCP candidate in GP-Wapiti after Toews recently announced that he would not seek re-election.
