Bonanza School Students help visually impaired students take part in a Easter Egg Hunt

Apr 8, 2023 | 6:00 AM

An Easter Egg hunt hosted by Grade 5 and 6 students from the Bonanza School earlier this week, has given six students with visual impairments a chance to partake in the special Easter tradition.

The students used the school’s maker space to construct over 180 Easter Eggs, and kits of 30 eggs with manuals in braille for each of the six visually impaired students to use again, year after year.

The eggs the students constructed are different from your stereotypical eggs, having beepers inside of them, so visually impaired students can still participate in an “Egg Hunt”.

Bonanza Principal, Theresa Simmonds said in a release, “It’s nice for the students to see the fruits of their labor. The kids worked hard to make today special for our students with visual impairments and it couldn’t have gone any better.”

The students worked to construct all the eggs over the course of two afternoons and even took the time to help guide the six students through the Easter Egg Hunt.
