County of Grande Prairie announces details of “Plan Your County” project

The County of Grande Prairie has announced details surrounding public input into its Plan Your County initiative.

The multi-year project will see the county review and update the plans, bylaws, strategies and guidelines that shape local development. It will start with the creation of a Hamlet Resiliency Strategy and a review of the current Municipal Development plan.

The results of this work will set the stage for the Land Use Bylaw and Area Structure Plan reviews that will happen during 2024.

Residents are being encouraged to provide their input via a number of means, including a short survey of what residents love and would like to see within the County’s nine hamlets.

A total of three drop-in events have also been planned for next week, where residents can learn about the Plan Your County project, and provide feedback.

Those events are set for April 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the Knelsen Centre in Bezanson, April 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mercantile Cafe in Valhalla, and from 5-7 p.m. on the 25 at the Twilight Centre in La Glace.

Community workshops are also being planned throughout the coming months at several locations throughout the county, including:
