CPSA says Grande Prairie physician guilty of inadequate record-keeping, not guilty of other allegations
A College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta tribunal says a Grande Prairie general practitioner will be sanctioned at a later date for one of three counts of unprofessional conduct.
The College says Dr. Obaid Afridi was found guilty on part of a charge of keeping inadequate patient records.
The tribunal dismissed allegations of displaying a lack of skill or judgment because of not making timely referrals or prescribing medications without regard to patients’ medical history and improper billing to Alberta Health, ruling that these were not proven.
A 53-page decision outlines the history of a series of appointments with one patient between May of 2019 and March of 2020. There were six allegations related to this, but the tribunal ruled five of the six were unproven while another was withdrawn.
