FIRE ADVISORY

County of Grande Prairie issues fire advisory

A fire advisory is going into effect for the entire County of Grande Prairie as of 3 pm Thursday afternoon.

The advisory also covers the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley.

Dry, windy conditions in the region have led the County Regional Fire Service to issue the advisory.

Existing fire permits are still valid, but new permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis.

Residents are reminded that with the exception of campfires, any other burning without a valid fire permit is prohibited.

You are also prohibited from burning when the wind reaches or is forecast to reach 12 km an hour or higher.

The County says they will continue to monitor weather conditions, and will post updates to their fire advisory situation on their website.
